Alpowa Restoration App
The Problem:
The Asotin County Public Utility District began a project to restore many miles of Alpowa Creek in Southeast Washington. The project included plans for bank stabilization, implementation of best management practices, and riparian plantings throughout the Alpowa Watershed. The working group was seeking an application to efficiently monitor their progress on each project at many locations.
The Solution:
We developed a mobile database solution for the iPad to monitor the group's progress at two scales. The user simply monitors their daily restoration activities at each location they visit, and the application provides project wide summaries and cost estimates in real time. When returning to the office, the users simply taps an 'Export' button, and all of their data and photos appear on their computer, ready to be shared and summarized for reports.
Customer Benefits:
Restoration on Alpowa Creek falls under three major categories (bank stabilization, best management practices, and riparian plantings), but there are many locations throughout the creek where these activities will be taking place. This application allows the Asotin County PUD to monitor their overall goals, and their progress at each location.
